Folklore and Language (Folklor û Ziman) is an international refereed and academic journal published twice a year, in April and October, under the auspices of Mesopotamia Foundation.

In the context of Kurdish folklore, the topics such as folklore theories, folk literature, customs and traditions, beliefs and folk sciences, local dictionaries, Kurdish folklore concepts, field studies, as well as studies and articles on Kurdish ethnography, etc. are published. Within the framework of linguistic activities, all kinds of topics related to phonology, morphology, syntax, morphosentax, social linguistics, Iranian linguistics, etc. take place. The journal also publishes studies in the form of articles, translations, symposium presentations, books and thesis.

This first issue includes seven scientific articles on Kurdish folklore and language. The articles are completely in Kurdish. There are articles in Kurmanji-Kirmanckî and Sorani dialects of Kurdish. Some of the articles in this issue are as follows: “Comparision of the Kurdish Variant of the Odipos Story and Several Other Variants”, “Complex Sentences in Kirmanckî / Zazakî”, “The İmportance of Folklore Works Among Intellectuals of the Hawar Generations”, ” THE ROLE OF PARTICIPLE SUFFIX IN THE CONSTRUCTING OF INDICATIVE, SUBJUNCTIVE AND CONDITIONAL MOODS”. Besides, in his work in Soranî Kurdish, Hêmîn Omar Ahmed focuses on handwriting of ‘Leyla and Mecnun' written by Mela Mehmûdê Beyazidî in 1857. At the end of the journal, there is an introduction of two published books.
