Baqek ji Folklora Berîya Mêrdînê / A Folklore from the Mêrdîn Plain
The Mardin region is a very important homeland for Kurdish folklore. In this book, there are many anecdotes, stories, experiences, and fables compiled from the Mardin Plain. These folkloric elements have been transferred from language to language in homes and divans and have survived to the present day. “One day, a villager calls the imam for the mawlid. The Imam takes his children with him and leaves. At the door, the villager, who sees the imam coming with his children, calls out to him: "Imam, I called you to the Mevlüt, I did not say to bring the children." The Imam responds: "Blessed! I feed them 365 days a year, you gave them food one day, is that a lot?”
